Last month, a group of sheep herder cooperatives in the high Andes finished testing a modified version that can keep temperatures steady at minus 5 degrees Celsius for 96 hours even in below-freezing high altitude winds, so they can now transport high quality lamb meat to coastal cities thousands of kilometers away. Users often trade their extra box capacity with neighboring villages, exchanging cold storage space for fresh produce or other essential supplies without any cash changing hands.

This is exactly the kind of under-the-radar global international cooperation that rarely makes headline news, but delivers far more real world impact than a lot of high-profile diplomatic summits and large scale investment announcements. It shows that the most effective cross-border solutions for shared problems do not need to be complicated, expensive or backed by huge institutional budgets, they only need a group of people who are willing to share what they learn across national borders for the common good.
