The report estimates that this informal network of shared plants is growing at 27% per year without any top-down promotion, and if the current growth rate holds, the total area of resident-planted native habitat will exceed the total land area of the United Kingdom by 2030, providing stable new living space for more than 1,200 near-threatened local insect and small animal species.
